What Is Simplicity?

Morning meditations on Full Moon in Leo at 13°

What Is Simplicity? I asked myself this question as I emerged from my morning meditation.

Life feels complicated as we approach our Full Moon in Leo at 13°. The heart and child in all of us. The simplicity of the heart embraces the child within through curiosity, exploration, and continued unconditional love. We live in duality; the child inside begins the journey through simplicity (survival instincts) and complicated situations, which then takes us on the journey and dance of experiencing life, rich with light/dark, good/bad, spiritual/mundane, to name a few. Each of these dualities holds the key to aligning with our soul selves/witness self. Sometimes lost, other times feeling present and connected—the dance of continued and lived life, both individually and collectively.

The Moon, as she shone her light on me last night, will not be fully full until Sunday, awakens me from sleep, and reminds me that when we dim our light, we are searching for a part of ourselves that needs to play, find joy, and remember that this too shall pass. Breathe back into remembering that we come from the darkness of the womb into the light of day. This is not an easy transition, but it is the journey through the human condition, which asks us to make choices about how to live, what to eat, who to be, and most importantly, how to connect with ourselves and others—to heal the wounds of the past and present, transforming them into our medicine and gifts. In doing so, we find relationship with ourselves, others, nature, and the cosmos.

In my opinion, I believe this is consciousness—the ability to move through the struggles of time and space to moments of comfort and peace. Like a child who feels pain and cries from discomfort, but as that passes, a smile embodies the childlike joy of moving through emotions like a river flowing through great mountains. The Moon reminded me last night, as she shifts from Cancer to Leo, that we can be deeply aware of how simple life can be when we move through our emotions, but we do have resistance; we learn what our body, mind, and soul teach us, that our resistance returns us to alignment with our center and presence. The Moon in Leo asks us in this cycle to simply be who we are in the moment and reflect on the choices in our hearts. Easier said than done, and a daily practice. Moon cycles offer a new beginning every month. The universe has our back, simply through support and unconditional love. It doesn’t always feel like this, but with faith, trust, an open heart, and one step at a time, we can move into love, courage, and shine our light to connect with our creative self-expression.

Maybe today is as simple as sitting quietly, taking a breath, and sipping a cup of tea or coffee. (Always a choice)

Warmly,
Nancy
